That’s where you, as an American contractor, come in.  By partnering with these developers, you can secure contracts and then subcontract the work to them, allowing them to earn a fair wage while you earn a commission and collect a monthly fee as passive income.
 

• The Arrangement: Overseas developers pay a monthly fee of $100 and a percentage of their earnings from these contracts directly to you. You’ll also earn a  small % of any earnings from each contract. Most earn upwards of $1,000/month total after the first few months.  

• The Setup: The developers may provide you with an extra laptop for them to access remotely, or use a remote server. All you need to do is help set up the account and keep the laptop connected to the internet, if applicable. You’ll earn passive income simply by maintaining this connection. Alternatively, the developer may just use a remote desktop server hosting company, this will take away the laptop requirement.

While you don't get to pick your partner, you absolutely have the right to refuse to work with anyone you don't want to you. You may pull the plug at any time. You're always in full control.

Payments are processed monthly. The first "Rent" payment is processed upon successful verification of your Upwork account and any necessary add-ons. The first "Income %" payment is processed differently based on the developer, though most pay out at the end of each month.

The "Rent" payment is a fixed monthly fee the developer pays to rent your account. The minimum and standard payment for this is $100/month, however many agencies are now offering even higher rates in order to compete with each other for the right to work with you. 

Each developer or agency pays a % of the income generated by the account directly to you. This varies by agency. The standard cut is 5% however some agencies offer up to 20%. This payment is typically processed at the end of each month, or by request.
